  • Sepehr escaped custody from CIMA Hospital by dressing as a doctor

September 1st, 2015 (ICR News) Nicaraguan authorities delivered wanted Iranian-American fugitive, Cyrus Anoushirvan Sepehr to the Peñas Blancas border crossing on Saturday, where he was handed over to Costa Rican authorities.

Sepehr escaped Costa Rican custody on April 1st from the private CIMA Hospital in Costa Rica where he had been hospitalized under guard since May 2014 to treat his post-polio syndrome by reportedly dressing himself as a doctor.

Both Costa Rica and the United States subsequently issued Interpol arrest warrants for the man.

Sepehr was taken into custody in April by Nicaraguan authorities while reportedly traveling on false documents, where he subsequently remained in custody until being handed over to Costa Rican authorities on Saturday.

Sepehr, together with another person, is accused of defrauding some $11 million from eleven investors by presenting themselves and their company, Pacific West Development Group, as major real estate developers.

The victims were reportedly Iranian Jews as well as US citizens.
