Suspect arrested in church stick-up; has at least 15 previous charges

August 23rd, 2013 (InsideCostaRica.com) A man known as “Chucky” who authorities say has been previously charged with at least 15 robberies of homes, stores, and pedestrians has been arrested for his involvement in the stick-up of churchgoers during a Holy Hour service in a church in Barrio San Cayetano in San José.

 

The man was identified after a security camera at the church was able to capture images of the man and his accomplice making their escape from the church.

 

According to churchgoers, the two suspects entered the church and sat amongst a group of elderly women in a pew, where at first they pretended to join in prayer.

 

However, their intentions shortly became clear when the men brandished a firearm and began to rob churchgoers of valuables, including cellular phones and cash.

 

The arrest was made at the man’s home in Cartago.

    Over and over again we read of repeat offenders committing crimes. What does it take to see that the justice system in CR is failing? Crime, the likes of which is escalating rapidly in CR, is a far more important issue than what the current administration seems to concern themselves with. I would like to see Lady Laura get a handle on just ONE major issue during her term and crime and just punishment for crimes against the person is something doable. Unfortunately, the will may not be there.

    The people Costaricenses here see it every night on the news. Just shake their collective heads as long as does not effect them from watching Futbol.. Hey everyone get a grip on things never ever going to change. Besides no place to put them and no money left after all the consultant pocketed it Right, lady Laura?? The diputados need new cars and gas cards, lunches and dinner paid for by the people. Only thing I have the choice to leave many others do not.
