Rainy Season and Slow Economy Great For Day Escapes

The rainy season means a slowdown of business of tourism and the currently world economic crisis has made the situation even worse and also the reason for the number of deals now available for escapes from daily life.

A number of tour operators have begun an intensive advertising campaign to attract nationals to take a break from daily lie and get out to the volcanos, mountains, parks and rivers.

One of the benefits of taking advantage of the offers is not only the low prices, but also the low occupancy at many of the hotels, where occupancy can be below 60% during the rainy season, more now due to the economy.

For instance, Barceló Playa Tambor if offering $80 per person, per night in they all inclusive resort. The normal price is $107.

Other hotels are offering rooms at almost half price and include breakfast.

Tour operators are offering one day tours like the volcán Irazú and río Sarapiquí for only $55, that includes a visit to the Cartago ruins, breakfast and a visit to the Braulio Carrillo rain forest.

Shopping around can net great one day or half day tours and at great prices, sometimes at 50% and more off the regular high season price.
