Important Drug Traffickers
Caught in Nicaragua
Managua - Members of the Nicaraguan National Police caught three
chiefs of international drug trafficking bands based in the country,
as reported by local press media Tuesday.
“This is a blow to the high level of drug-traffickers´ structure,
said police commissioner Vilma Reyes, mentioned by the press media.
Panamanian citizen Diogenes del Carmen Serrano and Nicaraguans Frank
Oviedo and Jose Domingo Molina were doing criminal activities since
1998, Reyes said.
Both took part in the distribution of drugs with the support of
helicopters, planes and the help of former officials of the
government of ex-president Arnoldo Aleman.
Reyes said the Nicaraguan police started an operation called Albino
Operation, after they seized a transport with 700 kilograms of
cocaine, and several people linked to organized crime were arrested,
with weapons, money and documents which were confiscated.
Other people were arrested in zones of the Managua and other places
of the country. |
