Panama's Social
Organizations to Protest
PANAMA - Social
organizations of Panama
are setting up protests
on Monday for better
salaries and against the
high cost of living.
Delegates of the
coordinating group to
Fight for Respect to
Life and Dignity of the
People are demanding an
answer to the several
proposals presented to
Parliament less than 15
days ago.
The bills included a
general salary increase
and a family basket
price and products
control, plus the end of
public services
privatization like
healthcare, education,
water supply,
environmental use areas,
and public transport.
The decision was made to
go on a 48-hour general
strike but the date is
yet to be determined.
