Brazil Aids Storm Struck
Cuba
HAVANA - Some 14 tons of
humanitarian aid donated
from the government of
Brazil arrived early
this Saturday to help
Cubans overcome the
damages caused by
hurricanes Gustav and
Ike.
A donation from the
State Reserves of that
South American country
landed at Jose Marti
International Airport
with rice, beans, soy
oil and manioc flour.
"This is just the
beginning, we would
really like to
collaborate more,"
Brazilian ambassador to
Havana Bernardo Pericas
told media.
The diplomat highlighted
the need to support the
recovery after Gustav, a
category four hurricane
in Saffir-Simpson scale,
and Ike, category one.
Cuban Vice Minister for
Foreign Investment and
Economic Collaboration
Ramon Ripoll expressed
thanks for the gesture
of solidarity of the
government of Brazil
with Cuba and reaffirmed
the decision of Cubans
to overcome with great
effort the consequences
of this natural
disaster. |
