CARACAS - The Venezuelan
Minister of Housing and
Environment Francisco
Sesto assured Friday
that the State is
boosting solid
strategies to improve
housing, a problem which
affects nearly 2
million.
Interviewed by
Venezuelan TV channel
Sesto explained that the
government is tackling
this dilemma from the
legal point of view as
well as structural by
building 3000 houses in
national territory.
"The recently approved
Housing Law opens new
wide-funding
possibilities to give
the poorest a chance of
having their own house,"
he remarked.
"We hope to face the
problem strategically
while we respect our
Constitution and follow
our goal to have no
homeless in this country
in ten years," pointed
out the Minister.
Sesto recalled that Hugo
Chavez administration
has built more houses
than in the previous 30
years.
However he admitted that
the current deficit is
nearly 1.8 million,
according to extra
official data.
The Venezuelan
government has recently
allocated 2.916 billion
Bolivares (1.2 billion
dollars) to boost the
house building program. |
