Cuban Doctors to Instruct Guatemalans
GUATEMALA -  Members of the Cuban doctors brigade will be working at five hospitals along with Guatemalan specialists instructing pediatricians, orthopedics, anesthesiologists, gynecologists and obstetricians, and surgeons.

According to coordinator for the Cuban Doctors Brigade, Jose Ramon Ruiz, Cuban physicians will be instructing new graduates from the Latin American School of Medicine in the specialties the country needs the most.

"Ten years after the arrival of the first health workers in Guatemala, cooperation has modified qualitatively", said Ruiz.

Dean of the Cuban brigade Madeleine Garcia said that the master degrees and specialty instructions increase scientific level and allow the brigade to recommend the country how to improve health indicators.

During this decade in Guatemala, Cuban physicians have helped drop mother and infant mortality rates to half the former numbers.
