Due Next Week
Washington - U.S.
President George W. Bush
and his Paraguay's
counterpart Fernando
Lugo will have talks to
be held in Washington on
Oct. 27 over bilateral
relation and other
mutual concerns, the
White House announced
Monday.
The scheduled summit
"provides an opportunity
to reaffirm our strong
relationship with
Paraguay," White House
spokeswoman Dana Perino
said in a statement.
Lugo was sworn in as
president of Paraguay in
August.
The United States and
Paraguay have an
extensive relationship
at the government,
business, and personal
level. In May 2005, the
Paraguayan National
Congress signed an
agreement with the
United States that
allows U.S. military
personnel to train,
work, and operate in
different regions of the
country for a period of
18 months.
