March In Support Of
Building New Stadium
Tomorrow
Representatives of
various sports
federations will be
marching on Saturday in
favour of construction
of the new stadium in La
Sabana park.
The groups are showing
their support for the
construction of the new
national stadium
following a halt of
construction of the
mega-structure by the
Constitutional Court who
sided in favour of an
appeal by former
ministro de Cultura,
Guido Sáenz.
The march will begin at
8:30am in from the León
Cortés statue located on
the east side of the
park and will move to
the empty lot, on the
west side, where the old
stadium stood.
The sports federations
are calling on all
athletes and the public
in general to join them
in the march.
The old stadium was
leveled on May 12 and
construction on the new
stadium, which is being
paid for by a donation
by the government of
China, was to have begun
next month.
As it stands now, the
new stadium is only a
dream and the objective
of march to show the
magistrates of the
Constitutional Court
that the public wants
and the need for the
stadium.
