Costa Rica Fugitive
Apprehended On Hampton
Beach
U.S. marshals arrested a
fugitive from Costa Rica
in Hampton. The
fugitive, Gerard Joseph
Latulippe, was wanted in
Costa Rica for multiple
allegations of fraud.
Costa Rica has an
extradition treaty with
the U.S., allowing it to
make a formal request
for U.S. marshals to
locate and arrest
Latulippe, who had been
wanted by Costa Rican
officials since
September 2006.
A worldwide notice to
apprehend Latulippe had
been sent out by
Interpol, and
information from the
Department of Justice
narrowed his location to
Hampton.
Using the information
from Interpol and the
Department of Justice,
the N.H. Joint Fugitive
Task Force and FALCON,
Federal and Local Cops
Organized Nationally,
made the arrest.
Latulippe operated
Principal Services,
which he told investors
was a hedge fund insured
by international
companies. Investors
were promised returns of
1 to 4 percent per month
on money they invested.
Although investors
allege a fraud of us$100
million dollars,
according to unsealed
documents filed in
federal court by
Assistant U .S. Attorney
Robert M. Kinsella,
Latulippe is charged
with bilking investors
of $2.37 million.
