Rubén Blades Comments On Costa Rica's "Great" Roads
Singer and actor, Rubén Blades, who also happens to be Panama's ministro de Turismo (tourism minister) praised the Juan Santamaría (San José) international airport, although he criticized the country's poor state of the roads.

"Your roads are no good. What's happening? I don't know, I don't dare give an opinion", said Blades during a press conference at end of his trip to Costa Rica.

"I am surprised at your airport. It is nice, like what we have in Tocumen (Panama's international airport). I haven't been to Liberia, so I can't give an opinion, but I have been at the Santamaría in the past and notice the difference", said Blades.

Blabes was in Costa Rica for a performance and not in the capacity of tourism minister, but couldn't resist giving his opinion about the hotels operators in Costa Rica dumping sewage into the ocean and the state of the roads.

Rubén Blades Bellido de Luna (born July 16, 1948) is a Panamanian salsa singer, songwriter, lawyer, actor, Latin jazz musician, and politician, performing musically most often in the Afro-Cuban and Latin jazz genres. As songwriter, Blades brought the lyrical sophistication of Central American nueva canción and Cuban nueva trova as well as experimental tempos and political inspired Nuyorican salsa to his music, creating thinking persons' (salsa) dance music.
