Dos Pinos Introduces La
Lechita
The Dos Pinos dairy
co-operative has
introduced a "cheaper"
version of its milk
called "La Lechita" that
will sell for ¢250
colones (us$0.48) for
670ml.
The company says it
introduced the product
to offset the high cost
of milk that complicates
life for most Costa
Rican families.
The product, which is
100% cow milk fortified
with vitamin A, iron and
folic acid, is packaged
in a soft bag smaller
than the traditional
litre brick box and will
be available in all "pulperías"
(corner stores), making
it accessible to
everyone.
As of July 1, a litre of
milk shot up to ¢400
colones, while the
Lechita sells for ¢373
colones per litre.
