Venezuela Housing to Guatemala
Venezuela will donate 60 houses to Guatemala from the so-called Petrocasas (petrohouses) program, to benefit a group of families affected by rains, who are today in temporal refuges.

Venezuelan ambassador to Guatemala Jenny Figueredo told Prensa Latina that the new houses will be set up in the Palin municipality, from the southern department of Escuintla.

About 42 houses were partial or totally destroyed in May by a torrent of mud, and faced with the danger of a new disaster, the area was declared uninhabitable.

Those houses will have three rooms, two bathrooms, a living-room, a kitchen and a dinning-room.

To build them, the country will use a new technology developed by Venezuelan experts that turns vinyl polychloride, a by-product from oil refining process, into panels.

Similar projects have been already carried out in other regional countries, like Bolivia, Cuba and some small Caribbean countries, stated the diplomat.

After the entrance of this Central American country to the PETROCARIBE energy initiative, it is expected that both nations enhance even more ties of cooperation, the ambassador stated.
