Panama Hosts Free the
Five Meeting
Members of Parliament
from 15 Latin American
and Caribbean countries
gathered in Panama
Monday to discuss
actions leading to the
release of five
anti-terrorist Cuban
fighters held in US
prisons.
The meeting was opened
this morning by
President of the Cuban
Parliament Ricardo
Alarcon and President of
the International
Relations Committee of
Panama's National
Assembly of Deputies,
Hector Aleman.
Parliament Presidents
Pedro Miguel Gonzalez
(Panama) and Rene Nunez
(Nicaragua) are also
attending, among other
continental figures.
Injustice committed
against these five Latin
American fellow comrades
what has brought us here
to this meeting, with a
commitment to act to get
their freedom, said
Aleman.
According to Alarcon, a
main objective of this
gathering is to break
the wall of
disinformation imposed
around the case by the
US Government.
The Latin American,
Caribbean Meeting of
Solidarity with Cuba and
for the Release of The
Five will continue in a
plenary session Monday
afternoon, when a final
document will be
released.
