Peru Cheers Venez-Colomb Peace Help
Diverse political and social Peruvian organizations expressed their support for the efforts of Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez in the Colombia peace process.

Leaders of those organizations marched to the embassy of Venezuela and handed in a declaration of support for the humanitarian action President Chavez has been carrying out to consolidate peace in Colombia.

They also backed the proposal of President Chavez to recognize the militant character of the insurgent Colombian organizations to contribute to the liberation of prisoners and to peace in Colombia.

The declaration also congratulates Chavez for the success in the humanitarian action of liberation of two Colombian political leaders retained by FARC.

"Our people show their unconditional support," the document reads.

Venezuelan ambassador Armando Jose Laguna expressed thanks for the action in the name of his government and said that he is only interested in seeing an encounter among both parts to be able to effectively obtain peace for our brothers in Colombia.
