Cuba Makes Full
Preparation For
Elections
Everything is ready for
the upcoming elections
for the Cuban national
and provincial
assemblies slated for
Jan. 20, the Cuban
National Election
Commission said
Saturday.
The election commission
said it had made
complete preparation in
terms of technology,
material and personnel
training and will ensure
that the elections have
a high quality and
transparency.
There are 38,000 polling
stations nationwide to
ensure a smooth polling
process and a high voter
turnout. They have
installed over700
computers and
established 21,000
date-transfer center all
the country, the
commission added.
In addition, the
television and radio
stations at all levels
also provide necessary
technical support for
the elections.
It was reported that
more than 8.4 million
voters will elect 614
deputies for the
national assembly and
1,202 delegates for the
provincial assembly.
Under the Cuban
Constitution, the new
national assembly will
elect 31 of its members
to form the Council of
State in 45 days.
