Argentine police seized
1.2 tons of cocaine
destined for Spain and
arrested 18 people,
officials said on
Saturday.
The drugs, worth 46
million euro (67 million
U.S. dollars), made the
operation one of the
country's "most
important" success in
the fight against drug
trafficking, said
Justice and Security
Minister Anibal
Fernandez.
Among those arrested,
Ernesto Lorenzo, a
retired army
intelligence officer,
was believed to be the
leader of the drug gang.
Police chief Hector
Roncaglia said the drugs
had possibly been
smuggled into Argentina
from Bolivia and was
destined for Spain.
