Gambling Ringleader Sought in Costa Rica
The ringleader of the online gambling group arrested in the U.S. on Monday, Carmine Cicalese, is being sought in Costa Rica following reports that he may be hiding out here.

The man known as "Buddy" is the only member of the group that remains at large following arrests in New York, Maryland and Massachusetts by U.S. authorities.

According to U.S. authorities, Cicalese is alleged to have operated a number of websites, including betwestspots.com and a toll-free call centre known as Cicalese Wireroom.

Involved in the search are the Ministerio de Seguridad Pública, the Policía Internacional (INTERPOL) and the Instituto Costarricense Sobre Drogas, who are following up on information received about the whereabouts of Cicalese.

The Dirección de Migración (immigration service) confirms that Cicalese obtained temporary residense in 2003 and had listed a house in Montes de Oca (San Pedro) as his residence. The residency permit has since expired.
