Chavez Confirms Orinoco
Socialist Plan
CARACAS - Venezuelan
President Hugo Chavez
launched the Orinico
Socialist Development
Plan to operate with
$408.3 million.
On addressing Venezolana
de Television Chavez
called it the largest
economic program of the
21st century to run from
2008 to 2012 with funds
generated by the
oil-rich area.
It will cover the
construction of poultry
farms, a livestock
system, porcine farms,
iron-and-steel plants,
and thousands of acres
to plant beans and other
grains.
The program will cover
an animal food plants,
areas to produce manioc,
corn, and sorghum, soy
oil factories, cotton
farms and expand
agribusiness with plants
to produce derivatives.
Those funds will also
pay for an oil refinery
able to process 400,000
barrels, a plant to
produce drills and other
steel products, housing,
schools, communities and
remove dirt to rehab
some 373-mile highway. |
