Brenes Eliminated From Competition
Although Limón native runner, Nery Brenes, ran a personal best and national record time of 44.94 seconds, he was eliminated yesterday from the Semifinal of the men's 400 metre race at the Beijing Olympics.

Brenes finished fourth in his group, just 0.12 seconds behind the winner, U.S. runner, Jeremy Wariner, with a time of 44.15 seconds.

Wariner and Christopher Brown of the Bahamas, both advanced to the finals.

Brenes was Costa Rica's best shot at an Olympic medal, although Kristopher Moitland may still take home some Olympic jewellery in the taekwondo match on Friday and mountain biker, Federico Ramírez, as he competes on Saturday.
