Traditional Train Ride
To Atenas Begins Sunday
Beginning this Sunday,
17 August, families can
enjoy the countryside
from the perspective of
the train, as the "Tren
& Faenas a la Tica"
service begins operation
from the Estacion del
Pacifico train station
in San José.
The tour takes riders to
Atenas and back, leaving
the station at 8:00am
sharp.
Passengers will be
offered entertainment,
snacks from fresh fruit
to pastries and a
traditional lunch that
will include a casado
and other traditional
Costa Rican foods.
The train ride to the
Balsas de Atenas from
San José takes about two
and a half hours, as the
train weaves through
some the prettiest
countryside in Costa
Rica, through mountains,
where they will be met
with more activities in
Atenas.
At 3:00pm, the train
will start its journey
back to San José,
offering a bird's eye
view of the Central
Valley as the train
moves through areas like
the Rio Grande.

event can be reserved by

makes a great Mother's
Day gift. The price is
˘6.500 colones (˘8.500
with lunch) for
nationals and ˘21.000
for foreigners.
The tour is expected to
continue every Sunday.
