Costa Rica To Host 2009
ISA World Surfing Games
The 2009 International
Surfing Association
(ISA) World Surfing
Games will take place in
Costa Rica's Playa
Hermosa, just south of
Jacó, said the president
of the Surf Federation
of Costa Rica, José
Ureña.
Some 35 countires are
expected to take part in
the competition that
will take place between
July 31 and August 9
next year.
The competition will be
broadcast live over the
internet to an estimated
80 million people around
the world.
Costa Rica has been
present at ISA events
every year since 2003.
Costa Rica's world class
surf and popularity
contributed to be chosen
host for the 2009 games.
Ureña said that the
competition will "blow
out" Costa Rica's
reputation as a surf
country.
