Conavi Begins Painting
Of Lines on Highways
Beginning this week the
Consejo Nacional de
Vialidad (Conavi) -
national road council -
will begin painting some
550 kilometres of four
national highways. In
addition to the line
painting, Conavi workers
will also install "cat
eyes" reflector on the
pavement.
The four routes that
will "finally" get their
lines are the San José-Limón,
Pérez Zeledón-Paso
Canoas, San Ramón-Chachagua-La
Fortuna and Cañas-El
Tanque de San Carlos.
The work will cause some
congestion on the
routes, especially the
San José-Limón route.
The Conavi says it is
using technology that
allows for the paint to
dry faster so that work
can be carried out
faster and with less
inconvenience to
motorists.
The four routes are part
of the nine highways
that are getting full
signalization, like the
Pococí-Sarapiquí-Upala-La
Cruz de Guanacaste,
Upala-Cañas,
Bribrí-Sixaola, Aguas
Zarcas-Ciudad Quesada
and Playas del Coco -
intersection with route
21.
The work will be carried
out over the next four
months, working also on
weekends, as workers try
to complete the work
before the heavy rainy
months.
In total some 950
kilometres of highway,
at a cost of ¢2.3
billion colones, will
get full signalization.
