Week
October and November are
"coffee" months as the
annual international
conference of coffee
harvesters takes place.
This year "Sustainable
Harvest Coffee
Importers" will hold its
fifth annual conference
titled "Hablemos de café
" (lets talk coffee)
where 200 coffee
producers, toasters and
invited guests will come
together from October 5
to 8.
Sustainable Harvest
Coffee Importers, is a
Portland, Oregon-based
green coffee importer
that provides
sustainable, higher
income markets for
coffee farmers around
the world. Sustainable
Harvest was the early
pioneer in the
sustainable specialty
coffee niche of fair
trade and organics,
serving quality-oriented
specialty roasters in
North America and Japan.
The company sources and
imports the highest
quality certified
organic, fair trade, and
shade grown coffee from
small farmer
cooperatives in Latin
America and Africa.
The conference will
include forums and
discussions by experts
on new methods of
processing high quality
coffee and growing
coffee under minimal
shade.
Former Costa Rican
environment minister,
Carlos Rodríguez; George
Howell, co-founder of
the"Taza de Excelencia";
and Tracy Ging,
marketing director for
the Instituto de Calidad
del Café, are expected
