President Fidel Castro
was presented in Cuba as
a privileged source of
the historical thought
of mankind and
protection of
environment.
Published by the Cuban
State Council, the book
includes the speech at
the UN Conference on
Environment and
Development by Fidel
Castro in Rio de Janeiro
on June 12, 1992.
Other pages are also
dedicated to the words
of Fidel Castro at the
World Conference of
Civilizations on March
30, 2005 in Havana.
Ismael Clark, president
of the Cuban Academy of
Sciences, and Eduardo
Torres Cueva, Director
of the Jose Marti
National Library
highlighted the need to
save the world by means
of dialogue, as it was
proposed by the
Caribbean statesman in
these two speeches.
Presenters of the book
insisted in the
importance of Fidel
Castro's revolutionary
thought in the two
speeches, with a great
creativity and universal
thought, and a call to
understand that science,
politics and human
values are not separated
in the world.
The two speeches demand
to use science for
sustainable development
of all the peoples
without harming the
environment.
Cuban Parliament
President Ricardo
Alarcon, and the
Ministers of Culture of
Cuba and Venezuela
respectively, Abel
Prieto and Francisco
Sexto, together with
other academics and
personalities from Cuba,
were at the presentation
