Panama Backs Evo for
Nobel Prize
Grassroots leaders,
celebrities and unions
from Panama expressed
Thursday support for Evo
Morales' Nobel Peace
Prize candidature.
"That distinction to the
president of the
Republic of Bolivia will
honor our indigenous
people of the continent,
that is, the most
deprived sectors,"
entities supporting the
nomination stated in a
release.
Panamanian organizations
and figures stressed
that "this will be a
recognition to a man, a
social fighter, who has
dedicated his life to
peace, progress and
welfare, always in
solidarity with the best
humanity causes."
The campaign in favor of
Evo Morales' candidature
closed Wednesday in a
public act held in the
Panama University, with
the presence of
students, professors,
union leaders, and
political and academic
figures.
Also present were
Bolivian ambassador
Edgar Solis Morales,
diplomatic
representatives from
Cuba, Nicaragua and
Venezuela, and Panama
University general
secretary Doctor Miguel
Angel Candanedo.
