Crusade for Whales
Several environmental and non-government groups and institutions launched a campaign to protect whales.

They did so far inland, at Palmares, in the Province of Alajuela, when they took advantage of the tens of thousands who gather at the annual festival there to promote awareness on the need to protect whales.

Several areas on the Costa Rican South Pacific have become choice destinations for those who enjoy watching several species of whales that come there to give birth to their babies and to nurse them before returning to their usual home grounds near the poles.
