Venezuela, Iran Cement Ties
Venezuela and Iran have moved
towards the extension of their
bilateral links, supported by
the signing of eleven
cooperation deals in energy,
industry and education.
Saturday, Presidents Hugo Chavez
and Mahmud Ahmadineyad attended
the clinching of the documents,
which include the creation of a
mixed company between run-state
ventures Petroleos de Venezuela
S.A. (PDVSA) and Petropars to
develop, extract and
commercialize hydrocarbons.
Besides, Venezuelan Bolivariana
de Noticias (ABN) and Iranian
Noticias new agencies inked a
memorandum of understanding
besides exchanging the documents
that ratified an agreement aimed
at avoiding the double taxation.
The bilateral collaboration
established yesterday between
Caracas and Teheran also
embraces finances, popular
economy, infrastructure and
politics.
At the ceremony, Chavez said his
nation and the Islamic Republic
will support the productive cut
in the Organization of Petroleum
Exporting Countries to halt the
fall of the oil prices.
Yesterday´s conventions joined
34 others sealed in September
2006 while Ahmadineyad visited
Venezuela and 11 established
during Chavez´s stay in Iran in
July 2006.
