Everyone Comes in At Sixaola
The director de Migración (immigration director), Mario Zamora, spoke candidly of the immigration service problems in controlling the comings and goings of foreigners through the border point with Panama at Sixaola.

Zamora explained that Sixaola is the point where most illegals enter.

"It is the most vulnerable point in the country at this moment", said Zamora, who added that Colombian hitmen, Orientals, Ecuadorians and Peruvians have used the border point to enter Costa Rican soil.

Zamora added that Sixaola is the point being used now by organizations who traffic in persons, The illegals have to pay a cost to make it through this border point without problems.

"The women are duped, telling them that their families back home are being threatened and forced into prostitution, while the men are forced into slavery", said Zamora.

Of course, immigration officials are working at putting a stop to the problem, according to Zamora, who could not give a specific timetable for the action.

Sixaola is a small community is that southern most point south of Limón that borders with Panama.  The community is remote and surrounding by mountains and forests.

Currently, police control in the area is left up to a small detachment and one road inspection point.
