Bolivia to Reduce Digital Gap
The Bolivian government will try
to reduce the digital gap in the
country, after installation of
100 television broadcasting
centers, with telephones and
Internet service in most of the
municipalities, journalistic
sources reported on Sunday.
The coverage planned with these
television broadcasting centers
will reach approximately a
million people in the different
regions of the country,
saidTelecommunication Director
Cliford Paravicini, quoted by El
Deber daily.
The official stated that the
greatest demand of these
services is in La Paz, followed
by eastern Santa Cruz and Tarija
departments.
He also said each community
should contribute between $6,500
and $7,000 to each television
broadcasting center, according
to studies by the
Telecommunication directive
board.
Five of these centers of
military nature are currently
working. They are located in
central Cochabamba department,
one in Riberalta and the other
is in Curahuara de Carangas.
