Latin American journalists
organization awards medal to
Castro
The Latin American Journalists
Foundation (Felap) has awarded
Cuban leader Fidel Castro a
special one-off medal,
recognizing his attempts to
fight misinformation, Cuba's
press reported on Sunday.
Juan Carlos Camano, head of the
80,000-strong organization,
presented the medal to Ricardo
Alarcon de Quesada, president of
Cuba's National Assembly of
People's Power, who accepted it
on behalf of the leader.
Camano said that Castro had
sustained the ideas of the
struggle by the means of
journalism and foreign policy.
Alarcon said that Castro had
always valued journalism and
journalists.
And from the start of the
revolution, Fidel had always
fought for truth, he added.
Based in Mexico City, Felap was
founded on June 7, 1976 and has
representatives from 20
countries.
