Ecuador Bans World Bank Executive
Fulfilling its promises, the Ecuadorian government declared World Bank (WB) representative Eduardo Somensatto a "non grata" person in that territory.

The Foreign Ministry note revealed the decision was adopted "in accordance with article 9 of the Vienna Convention on diplomatic relations" and was immediately informed to that entity.

The measure was executed after President Rafael Correa previously announced he will expel the WB chief for trying to blackmail him with a 100 million dollars loan when he was economy minister in 2005.

The WB confirmed the communication and announced its intention to maintain talks with the Ecuadorian authorities.

With the expulsion Ecuador has recovered its dignity and independence, asserted national officials on Friday.

"The declaration of "non grata" person proved we do not accept blackmail from any international monetary institution," highlighted Luis Maldonado, government representative on the national bank committee.

The WB did not pay out a loan previously agreed to by the fiscal strongbox risking the government stability, stressed the Economy minister Ricardo Patino said the WB jeopardized government stability by "not giving a loan previously agreed to at that time."
