Security Measures Increased in Guatemalan Prison
The Guatemalan prison system informed on the increase security measures in the cell where former policeman Marvin Contreras is confined now.

Marvin Contreras is linked to the murder of the four Salvadoran deputies to the Central American Parliament: Eduardo D Aubuisson, Jose Ramón González, William Pichinte, and driver Gerardo Ramírez.

The decision was taken after two men wanted to get to Contreras, disguised as prisoners, to kill him.

Nery Morales, spokesman of the authorities, said they check his phone calls, taste his food, and control his visits.

There are three security rings around Contreras: the first, in his cell, the second formed by guards in the interior of the prison, and a third by members of the local army outside the precinct.

Different entities called to protect Contreras after four police investigators who were accused of the Salvadoran deputies´ murder were executed in a high security prison in February.

Human Rights Prosecutor Sergio Morales rejected the official hypothesis that a riot was the cause of the death of police officers Luis Arturo Herrera, Jose Korky Lopez, José Adolfo Gutierrez and Marvin Escobar.
