President Correa Urges
Ecuadorian to Go Polls
President Rafael Correa called
the Ecuadorian people for going
to the polls on April 15 to
support the establishment of a
full power Constituent Assembly.
We have to make our decision at
the polls, said Correa when
emphasizing the need of a change
in Ecuador through the
Constituent Assembly.
In his habitual Saturday speech,
the president warned that those
in charge of his campaign at not
linked to ex President Jamil
Mahuad.
Those who decide to vote against
the establishment of a
Constituent Assembly will not do
it because they want Mahuad´s
cronies to return power, taking
into account that the 1999 bank
embezzlement took place during
the ex president's
administration.
If the people vote in favour of
the Constituent Assembly it
means that they want a change
and will put aside all those
persons who stole our funds,
lives, and future, stressed
Correa.
The president upheld that with
the Assembly, they will be able
to overcome the economic,
political, and social obstacles
that have been imposed by
traditional parties.
