Air Costa Rica concludes certification process, pledges to be a 100-percent “Tico” airline

August 6^th, 2015 (ICR News) The new Costa Rican airline, Air Costa Rica successfully concluded the certification process to become an official air carrier on Wednesday, and is promising to be the first one-hundred-percent “Tico” regional airline.

The airline says that it will serve gallo pinto with natilla, employ a 100% Costa Rican staff expected to reach 100 employees, including its pilots and aircrew (including, presumably, those responsible for sweeping up the inevitable specs of beans and rice that will end up on the floor of the aircraft), and reports even indicate that passengers will be able to enjoy ice-cold Imperial beer.

Airline representatives told the press that they want passengers to come to know traditional Costa Rican hospitality and culture while traveling with the airline.

The airline plans to offer daily direct flights from San Jose’s Juan Santamaria International Airport to Panama, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Nicaragua and Guatemala by the end of the year.

In addition, the airline plans to offer a daily flight to Miami, Florida by April 2016.

At some point in the future, the airline may also include routes to New York and Los Angeles, according to an airline representative.

The airline will operate two Boeing 737s and two Fokker 100 aircraft, each with a capacity for 130 passengers.
