August 5th, 2015 (ICR News) A new Costa Rican airline, Air Costa Rica could begin operations in December, according to company officials.

A public hearing scheduled for Wednesday marks the final requirement for the airline to be certified by Costa Rica’s Directorate General of Civil Aviation, after which the company can proceed with the process for obtaining aviation permits from authorities in the countries that it will service.

The airlines plans to offer daily direct flights from San Jose’s Juan Santamaria International Airport to Panama, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Nicaragua and Guatemala by the end of the year.

In addition, the airline plans to offer a daily flight to Miami, Florida by April 2016.

The airline will operate two Boeing 737s and two Fokker 100 aircraft, each with a capacity for 130 passengers.
