AH1N1 Flu Cases Climbs To 33 in Costa Rica
The number of people infected with the AH1N1
flu in Costa Rica has risen to 33, while
only two cases are listed as "probable".
In total 1.349 cases have been investigated
by the ministerio de Salud since April 24,
of which 1.177 have been discarded and 137
are still under investigation by the
laboratory of the Instituto Costarricense de
Investigación y Enseñanza en Nutrición y
Salud (Inciensa).
The provinces of San José, Alajuela, Heredia
and Cartago have reported "confirmed" cases,
while Limón, Puntarenas and Guanacaste have
only registered "suspicious" cases.
María Luisa Ávila, ministra de Salud,
explained that the woman who is in
quarantine at a San José hospital is doing
well and out of danger. The ministra added
that all the cases have been light and no
grave cases have been reported.
The ministra is asking the population to
continue with a good hygiene, washing hands
frequently with soap and water and care when
sneezing and coughing.
