OAS Chief Debriefing in Guatemala
Guatemala - The
Organization of Americas States (OAS)
general Secretary Jose Miguel Insulza is
visiting this capital to learn about the
political crisis here, according to official
sources.
His agenda includes meetings with the
President and Vice President of the Republic
Alvaro Colom and Rafael Espada,
respectively.
Insulza arrived at the international airport
Sunday night where dozens of youth
demonstrated in favor of justice and against
impunity.
However, the highest leader of that regional
association seemed to have ignored the
demonstrators since he left the air terminal
through a private door and did not even see
the demonstration.
According to the program Insulza will meet
the Director of the International Commission
against Impunity in Guatemala Carlos
Castresana, with whom he has already met at
OAS headquarters in Washington, according to
reports.
The OAS general secretary will also meet
with Congress President Roberto Alejo and
the Acting Director of the Supreme Court of
Justice Eliu Higueros.
He will also meet with Attorney general
Amilcar Velasquez, the Human Rights
Ombudsman Sergio Morales and Metropolitan
Archbishop Cardinal Rodolfo Quezada, among
