Panama Climber Conquers Everest

Michael Morales, 38, became the first
Panamanian to conquer Mount Everest.
The web site created to report on his
expedition informed that last weekend,
Morales took 11 hours to reach the 9,844
meter summit and another five to descend to
the base camp at 8,000 meters.
The report explains that the Panamanian
climber had traveled to Nepal at the end of
March to complete the final phase of
preparation and acclimatization.
He has done climbs of important peaks like
Aconcagua in Argentina, of 6,962 meters and
Mount McKinley in Alaska at 6,194 meters.
He explained that he took a two month leave
from work to take part in the expedition
guided by Alpine Ascents International.
Part of the Himalayan mountain range,
Everest is the highest mountain in the world
and is located on the border between Nepal
