Quito - Venezuelan President
Hugo Chavez is to arrive in this capital
Saturday, for a meeting with his Ecuadorian
peer Rafael Correa, in which both leaders
will analyze the course of bilateral
accords.
This is the fifth meeting both heads of
State have had since Correa's inauguration
in January 2007, and the first after the
statesman was re-elected in the April 26
elections.
The two parties will tackle issues on
sovereignty, energy, production, finance and
trade.
According to official sources, some days ago
Ecuadorian Minister of Foreign Affairs Jorge
Orbe and Venezuelan Francisco Arias
delimited several points to debate in the
presidential meeting this weekend.
Also on the list is amplification of the
exchange of national crude oil for oil
by-products, saving about $261 million USD
for the territory since June 29, 2007.
The statesmen will also discuss the course
of the project for the construction of the
Pacific Refinery in the coastal province of
Manabi, whose environmental and engineering
reports are ready.
Correa and Chavez will participate Sunday in
an act on the occasion of the 187th
anniversary of the Battle of Pichincha,
which gave a new impetus to the Ecuadorian
independence from Spain.
The Venezuelan president expects to conclude
his official visit here tomorrow afternoon.
