Crash in Guatemala City Kills Six

people died in Guatemala City on Thursday
when a Piper Azteca light aircraft, owned by
Aeroservicios Company and heading for
Belize, crashed upon its departure from
Guatemala City's La Aurora airport,
according to news reaching here.
Among the dead was Joseph Godoy, head of
Guatemala City's urban planning and support
fund, the head of Guatemala's civil aviation
authority, Juan Jose Carlos told the local
media.
Other victims included the pilot and
professors from a private educational
institution, Universidad Franciso Marroquin.
Carlos said the plane took off at 2:42 p.m.
local time, in a heavy rain, and then veered
unexpectedly to the left, before crashing
into a private house on the ground. No one
was hurt on the ground, although the crash
caused a fire at the house.
According to the Guatemalan newspaper Prensa
Libre, the house belongs to the wife of a
Guatemala tourist agency boss.
