Peru Lifts Suspension of Mexico Flights
Lima - Peru has decided to
lift suspension on commercial flights to and
from Mexico as the situation concerning the
influenza A/H1N1 there is improving, a
health official said Wednesday.
Peru suspended all flights to and from
Mexico from April 30 as a preventive measure
against a possible pandemic. But Peru will
continue making medical checks for
passengers at its international airports,
Health Minister Oscar Ugarte said following
a meeting of the Council of Ministers.
Ugarte also said the government decided to
reinforce vaccination campaign against a
seasonal flu, which started two weeks ago
nationwide, in an effort to prevent an
A/H1N1 flu outbreak.
Peru has no confirmed case of the A/H1N1
influenza, while Mexico has confirmed 60
deaths from the flu virus so far.
