Other Confirmed Cases of Swine Flu Out of
Danger
The ministerio
de Salud reports that the remaining seven
confirmed cases of A/H1N1 flu are out of
danger and are at home with their families.
The infected are two men between the ages of
24 and 30; two women between 20 and 25; two
young girls aged 4 to 11; and a three year
old boy. Salud officials did not give out
their names nor their location.
The three children had contact with the 53
year old man who died Saturday morning at
the Calderón Guardia hospital.
Costa Rica has listed all eight cases as "probables",
that is, they were confirmed locally, but
waiting confirmation from the Centers for
Disease Control (CDC), in Atlanta.
The CDC has only confirmed one case at the
beginning of last week, confirming the rest
by the end of the week.
The vice-ministra de Salud, Ana Cecilia
Morice, confirmed that all the cases are out
of danger and only the 11 year old girl
remains in hospital, suffering from asthma.
Morice said all the other patients have
received antiviral treatment and are at home
with their families.
Salud officials are keeping a quarantine of
seven days for adults and ten days for
children.
Since April 24, Costa Rican health officials
report 774 suspected cases, of which 583
have been discarded, 183 cases being
evaluated and 8 confirmed.
