Panama Gives Final Touches to Polls
Panam - The last details for
general elections Sunday in Panama are
focusing the attention of authorities on
Saturday. They are working on the final
distribution of ballots and other materials
to be used in polling stations, as well as
on the transportation of officials.
The governing electoral body is also
carrying out the final test of technological
systems installed in the ATLAPA Convention
Center for vote receipt and counting.
Taking into account previous experiences,
analysts consider that on Sunday night they
will be able to know who the winner in the
contest for the presidency of the Republic
will be.
Results of the contest for seats in the
National Assembly and for the posts of
mayors and councillors will be known later.
Political forces involved are also giving
final touches to their voter-mobilizing and
vote-counting mechanisms.
At least 2.2 million eligible Panamanians
are expected to cast their votes tomorrow,
according to the electoral roll. |
