San Jose Temperature Hit Record 30.5 C (87 F) Monday

March and April are the hottest months of the year, with temperatures this "dry" or summer season reaching record levels.

Yesterday (Monday) the temperature in Liberia, Guanacaste, was recorded at 37.6 Celsius (100 Fahrenheit). In San Jose, the temperature soared to 30.5 Celsius (87 Fahrenheit), 27.8 Celsius (82 Fahrenheit)in Pavas and 32 Celsius 90 Fahrenheit) in Alajuela.

Those temperatures are two degrees above the average for the month of March. And almost no wind to make it feel cooler.

According to the experts at the Instituto Meteorológico Nacional (IMN) - the national weather service - historically March and April are "calurosos" (hot) months, as the sun's rays fall more perpendicular and more intense that other months.

Add to that less cloud formations and practically no wind and it feels hot, baby, hot!
