Panama - The United Nations Office on Drugs
and Crime (UNODC) signed on Tuesday an
agreement with the Panamanian government to
set up its regional headquarters in Panama.
The document was inked by Panamanian Foreign
Minister Ricardo Duran and UNODC Executive
Director Antonio Maria Costa.
In the ceremony, Duran indicated that "this
is an additional cooperation effort between
the United Nations and the government of
Panama in the struggle against drugs and
international crime."
Costa said the agreement is a significant
document for UNODC, which has been
implementing from Panama regional programs
against these development-threatening
scourges.
