Chile Boosts Ties in India
New Delhi - Chilean President Michelle
Bachelet arrived in India Monday for a
four-day visit, aimed at reinforcing
commercial and complementation links in
education, and science and technology.
The visitor will also attend celebrations
for the 60th anniversary of the
establishment of bilateral relations,
including a Cultural Gala at the
Presidential Palace.
On his second day of activities, Bachelet
will be welcomed by her peer, Pratibha Patil,
at the Presidential Palace, and will then
place a wreath to the Father of the
Homeland, Mahatma Gandhi, at the Rajghat
Mausoleum.
Her visit responds to an invitation by Patil,
who was in Chile in April, 2008, as part of
a Latin American tour that included Brazil
and Mexico as well.
Also tomorrow, Bachelet will meet with Prime
Minister Manmohan Singh, Foreign Minister
Pranab Mukherjee, and leader of the United
Alliance for Progress Sonia Gandhi.
After meeting with Singh at the historic
Hyderabad House, the parties will sign
cooperation agreements. |
