The First
Giraffe Born On Tico Soil
The natural private reserve, Africa Mia, in
Liberia, Guanacaste, reports the birth of
the first giraffe on Costa Rican soil and
Central America.
Edgar Manuel Céspedes, in charge of press
relations for the park, said the giraffe was
named Roxi in honour of doña Roxi Blen,
mother of Mario Sotela, owner of zoo.
Céspedes said that all went well and being
female, it will assure the park more births
in the future.
When full grown Roxi is expected to reach a
height of 4 to 6 metres.
