Calderón's
Wife Nominated For Legislative Seat
Gloria Bejarano, the wife of former Costa
Rican president, Rafael Ángel Calderón, will
be running for a legislative "curul" (seat)
for the PUSC party in the 2010 presidential
elections, as confirmed at the party
assembly meeting yesterday held at the
Ramada Plaza Herradura hotel.
The confirmation of Bejarano and others as
legislative deputies of the Partido Unidad
Social Cristiana was made by the former
president, who also named the party
president, Luis Fishman, to second spot in
the San Jose position.
Representing the PUSC, if elected on
February 7, 2010, Bejarano and Fishman will
be joining Rodolfo Sotomayor and Graciela
Cruz, who lead the party's youth and women's
movements, respectively, an others to form a
government.
Calderón, who is still on trial for
corruption and embezzlement in the
Caja-Fischel case, was nominated as the
party's presidential candidate for 2010.
The former president (1990-1994) said last
night that he is positive about the outcome
of the trial that is schedule to conclude in
the coming month or months.
Gloria Bejarano told the press last night
that now comes the hard part of the
campaign. "We are used to fighting
adversity", said Bejarano.
